MISSION & BIOGRAPHY

Our mission is to provide high quality education and enrichment for aspiring musicians, develop well rounded individuals and allow them to tap into their talent and creativity in underserved communities.

DuPont Brass is a one-of-a-kind, brass-driven supergroup from the heart of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Originally composed of five music majors from Howard University busking to raise money for tuition during the Christmas season, they've grown to a 10-piece ensemble consisting of brass, a rhythm section, vocalists, and a DJ. Gaining popularity from playing at local Metro stations, DuPont Brass began performing professionally for weddings, banquets, and other private events in the surrounding area.

Thanks to the foundation laid in their earlier years, DuPont Brass has had the opportunity to perform in conjunction with the D.C. Jazz Festival, The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and The National Cannabis Festival. Consistently touching the community's hearts with their heartwarming testimony, DuPont Brass has been featured multiple times by WPFW, The Washington Post Newspaper, and The Washington City Paper. Recently, they made their local television debut on WHUT's "DMV the Beat" on PBS.

As they continue their rise to greatness, DuPont Brass has never forgotten their educational roots. Meeting as music students in college, each group member would later become an educator in their own right. As a unit, DuPont Brass has led educational masterclasses across the DMV Area through partnerships with The Washington Performing Arts Society, The MusicianShip, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and local schools. Their advocacy for musical academia spans outside the classroom, with school-themed musical releases such as Halftime (2018) and Music Education (2020). Filled with a diverse arsenal of musical styles that they combine and call "Eclectic Soul", DuPont Brass presents a catalog made with every kind of listener in mind.
